Havey Institute for Global Health Seminar Series - Global Health at the American Academy of Pediatrics
The Havey Institute for Global Health "First Friday" Seminar Series is held the first Friday of each month, September through July, and features the research and ideas of outstanding global health leaders at Feinberg, the larger Northwestern community, and beyond.

Our speaker for the month of June is Beena Kamath-Rayne, MD, MPH, FAAP.

This month's talk, "Global Health at the AAP: Applying our mission for children everywhere", will cover the mission of the American Academic of Pediatrics (AAP) and how it is applied by the Global Child Health and Life Support Team, provide a background on programs that address the main causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide, and also review other global health initiatives underway at the AAP. 

Dr. Beena Kamath-Rayne is a neonatologist and Vice President of Global Newborn and Child Health at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). She leads the AAP’s global newborn health initiatives, plus the simulation and clinical skills training programs. She is a Master Trainer for the Helping Babies Survive programs, the Associate Editor for Helping Babies Breathe (HBB), 2nd Edition, and represented the AAP on the WHO Technical Working Group that revised the Essential Newborn Care Course, incorporating HBB’s learning methodologies. Dr. Kamath-Rayne brings expertise in clinical research and quality improvement which has resulted in grant funding and over 70 publications.
